BigKayBeezy is in position for a major comeback in 2023. With his legal troubles behind him, the underrated Chicago native looks to recapture the spotlight with his gritty new remix “Paraphernalia 2.0,” joined by hometown veteran G Herbo.
Beezy has maintained a relatively low profile since first exploding onto the scene back in 2020 with his, newly Gold certified, viral breakout hit “Bookbag” and its popular remix featuring Polo G. Even still, he’s managed to drop consistent quality music and pickup major co-signs and collabs like DaBaby and Pooh Shiesty, as well as some of the most important names in the new generation of Chicago artists such as Lil Zay Osama, PGF Nuk and Shoebox Baby. Now, he’s back with a new look at a fan favorite off his last project and a fresh co-sign from yet another Chi-Town legend in G Herbo.
For those that may have missed the frenzy in 2020 and are just tuning in, “Paraphernalia 2.0” is the perfect introduction to the raw aggression and grimy flows of BigKayBeezy. At just 21 years old, his unapologetically street-first style manages to embody the spirit of early 2010s Chicago drill, with his palpably dangerous energy and no-holds-barred approach combined with a thick Chicago accent evoking memories of a young Herbo or late King Von.
As such, it was a special treat and surely a big moment for Beezy to be joined by G Herbo for the first time on his latest release. The pair of Chicago drillers couldn’t be more well-matched on “Paraphernalia 2.0” as Herb sounds perfectly at home on the eerie production from Milanmadeit. Going toe-to-toe competing for the most savage one-liners, Herbo looks perfectly comfortable at Beezy’s side in the accompanying music video inside of a fittingly nondescript warehouse.
Despite dealing with legal troubles that restricted his ability to fully capitalize on his early success, the last few years has still seen Beezy consistently manage to drop quality music to stoke the flames of his fanbase. He followed up his debut GG4L (2020) with Bad Intentions, his second project of 2020 containing “Bookbag 2.0” with Polo, which would become his biggest-ever song with over 49 million plays on Spotify.
In 2021 he dropped Don Juan, an underrated project with multiple impressive cuts like “ARs & FNs” and “Walk Down” with Pooh Shiesty. Since then, he’s released a steady stream of quality solo singles, remixed another early hit “Area 51” with Big Yavo and BFB da Packman and collabed with almost every Chicago artist that’s popped up in recent years. This past summer he dropped Cold Case, his most recent project containing several notable features and fan favorites like “Misfit,” Southside” and the original “Paraphernalia.”
While his latest album definitely didn’t receive the attention it deserved, “Paraphernalia 2.0” is proof that Beezy’s bars are as fiery as ever. Now with his newfound freedom and the enthusiastic co-signs of Chicago’s elite under his belt, there is nothing standing in the way of BigKayBeezy reaching his full potential.
