At just 20 years old, Bktherula is easily one of the most talented female emcees in the game. Each and every drop from the Atlanta native comes with a captivating sound that leaves listeners eager to hear more.
Her most recent single, “TAN,” features voracious bars over a dirty trap instrumental produced by Azure. With an aggressive and confident flow, BK rips into the track almost immediately starting with its addictive chorus.
For some money, bitch, Do some-tin (Dead)
And on a trip to Hawaii, bitch, Get a tan (Tan)
I got guala sticks, And even a black sprinter van (Azure)
But besides all that, she gon’ fuck me cause I’m Rue San-tan (Bih)“TAN” – Bktherula
Throughout her career, BK has become known for her ability to create enchanting melodies on ambient tracks such as her 2020 breakout hit, “Tweaking’ Together.” However, the female phenom always makes sure to show off her versatility on hard-hitting tracks like “TAN.” This new release is a sound we have heard from BK before on some of her biggest songs to date such as, “LEFT RIGHT” and “SANTANNY.”
BK also shared the single’s official music video shot and directed by Jordan Margolin. In the visual, she is filmed vibing out on a boat docked at a lake with “TAN” blaring in the background. Each scene follows BK as she travels through the boat into its kitchen, bedroom, and top deck. With simplistic edits and transitions, Margolin perfectly captures her raw energy and style.
Additionally on Wednesday (Jan. 25), BK announced her “FIVE Tour,” which will include 15 shows in the United States, starting in March. Two of these stops will include Rolling Loud festival performances in Los Angeles and Portugal.
While 2022 was a marquee year for her — dropping LOVE BLACK and welcoming guest spots from Ski Mask The Slump God, Destroy Lonely and more — it’s obvious that Bktherula has no plans to slow down anytime soon. With a whole tour ahead, new singles and multiple music videos, the up-and-coming star is off to one of the most electric starts from any artist in 2023.
