NYC’s Cash Cobain and Chow Lee continued the Sexy Drill takeover with the release of their new deluxe 2 Slizzy 2 Sexy on Sept. 7 — following up their popular joint-project from earlier this year with 12 new tracks.
Asa result of their unique and refreshingly fun take on the NYC drill sound, Cash and Chow have been on a steady incline over the last year – coming to fruition in the form of viral freestyles, notable collabs, big looks at Rolling Loud, and most recently bringing the house down at their own sold out show in Brooklyn to celebrate the release of the 2 Slizzy 2 Sexy Deluxe.
With the new Deluxe, Cash and Chow nearly double the number of tracks on 2 Slizzy 2 Sexy while doubling down on their infectious dance-forward, sample-heavy approach – much of which is produced by the Sample God, Cash Cobain himself.
The project included several follow-ups to beloved fan favorites like “JHoliday 2” and “Wavy Lady 2,” along with a remix featuring Kodie Shane. It’s also worth noting that with this new batch of songs Cash and Chow seem to be leaning into the bass-pounding Jersey drill sound. A few examples being “Watergun,” a dance-flip of DJ Khaled’s legendary “I’m On One” with NJ’s hottest new phenom Bandmanrill, the previously released Sexy/Bronx drill mashup “Back It Up” with 41’s TaTa, or the clever remix of Fergie’s “Glamorous” – the iconic chorus cheekily rearranged to spell “Orgasm” in true Sexy Drill fashion.
Another clear standout off the project is Chow Lee’s “Hornitos” featuring Nu Sace. Released as a single in the leadup to the release, the unique-sounding “Hornitos” is an instant home run complete with quotables like “I knew you since quinceanera” and its own built-in dance with its “Left foot, left. Right foot, right” – not to mention a perfect brand partnership opportunity whenever Hornitos is ready to tap in with the Slizzy movement.
Following another successful release and a sold-out headlining show in their home city, Cash Cobain and Chow Lee are paving the way for their original Sexy Drill sound on their own terms. With the appetite for high-energy, dance-friendly music growing every day, it’s only a matter of time before the rest of the country catches on to what the Slizzy’s are up to in NYC.
