Cash Cobain & TaTa "Back it Up"

NYC’s Cash Cobain and TaTa connect on ‘Back It Up’ ahead of ‘Slizzy’ deluxe

This week, NYC’s favorite artist-producer Cash Cobain linked with TaTa of the new Bronx drill trio, 41, for a bouncy bop and pool party videoshoot to tie a bow on Summer 2022. The new single also comes with the announcement of Cash and Chow Lee’s 2 Slizzy 2 Sexy Deluxe set to drop Sep. 7.

Over the last few years, Cash has become known as the Sample God and architect of the Sexy Drill sound, a more lighthearted, female-friendly approach to NYC’s gritty drill sound. On the other hand, TaTa is one-third of the new Bronx drill trio known as 41 who, along with Kyle Richh and Jenn Carter have made waves over the last few months with big singles and a viral On the Radar Freestyle.

On “Back It Up,” Cash (affectionately referred to as Slizzy) and TaTa join forces to offer up one of the first examples of a crossover between the two distinct NYC-born sounds.

“It’s a Slizzy situation – we got the Slizzy’s mixed with 41’s & beautiful women. You know if the women rocking wit you, then EVERYBODYYYY rocking with you. It’s Vibey. It’s Lit. It’s Slizzy.

– Cash Cobain on “Back It Up”

It does seem like the ladies are rocking with the sound, as the well-attended backyard pool party in the accompanying music video looked like the perfect way to end the summer. Captured by Qasqiuat, the visual perfectly captures the carefree, flirtatious ways of the Slizzys combined with the harder-edged, Bronx drill energy of the 41s – visually embodied by the poolside Pooh Shiesty masks worn by TaTa and company.

Additionally, the visual edits are perfectly timed with the punchy bass hits and vibey, Jersey club reminiscent sample-flip produced by Cash (and co-produced by Viddyonthebeat) – as marked by his iconic “And this beat from Cash not From Youtube” beat tag.

Cash Cobain is truly a singular figure within the NYC scene. Known for his original production style and uniquely saucy approach to the drill sound, he’s produced one-of-a-kind hits for everyone from Shawny Binladen to B-Lovee to Central Cee – and just recently earned major co-signs from Drake’s OVO Radio and from Frank Ocean when his and Chow Lee’s “JHoliday” was prominently featured in Homer’s ad for their special new product. He was also included in the recent New York Magazine article The Voice of Drill,” appropriately featured as one of the faces of the city’s sound.

Throughout the year Cash has continued to prove that he has just as much to offer in front of the mic as he does behind the boards. First with his own solo project, Slizzy Timing, followed by 2 Slizzy 2 Sexy, a joint-project with fellow Sexy Drill frontrunner, Chow Lee, containing standout tracks like “Vacant,” “JHoliday” and “Slizzy Like” – magnified by their knockout appearance on Gabe P’s On the Radar.

This week, Cash and Chow announced that they are ready to follow up the success of their collab-project with the 2 Slizzy 2 Sexy Deluxe, this time joined by a few carefully selected features from Bandmanrill, Kodie Shane and of course TaTa. The Deluxe is set to release on September 7th, and the pair will be kicking off the festivies by headlining their own show at Brooklyn’s Baby’s All Right.
