Doechii‘s 2022 so far has been quite monumental, to say the least. Whether it was her killer verse on the 2022 XXL Freshman Cypher or her career-elevating March single “Persuasive” — which has racked up nearly 10 million streams on Spotify — the TDE singer-rapper has been deep in her bag.
As her growth continues to feel exponential, her Top Dawg running mate has helped boost her stature once more. Over a month after Doechii dropped the remix to “Persuasive” with SZA, the two united to put out the visuals for the song on Sept. 1.
Since its July 22 release, the “Persuasive” remix has also since been added to Doechii’s early-August EP she / her / black bitch, along with four other ferocious tracks. The music video for the explosive collaboration sees TDE’s two queens display their star power with sensual yet elegant shots on top of a blacked out G-wagon.
On the track, Doechii replaces her second verse on the original song with a fresh new verse from SZA. This beautifully-sung addition to the mesmerizing track sees SZA in a blissful state, soaking up the song’s “persuasive” atmosphere.
How does it feel to be alive?
Let me break it down ’til it feel right
How does it feel? I’m so aligned, and it’s so
Devil himself can’t kill the vibe
“Persuasive (Remix)” — Doechii, SZA
As much as Doechii had been trending upwards even before this remix, SZA has also been progressively reemerging as a force to be reckoned with in the R&B scene. Although her “SZA summer” declaration regarding an upcoming album was put to a halt by TDE president Punch, she still plans to take over some time before the year’s end, evident in her “BEAUTIFUL” feature on DJ Khaled‘s album from last week.
After she kicked off June with a 7-track deluxe of her 2017 classic album CTRL, SZA announced in July that she would be putting out her long-awaited track “Bloodstain/Shirt” in the near future as well, and has added Doja Cat as a feature.
