Nigerian singer Fireboy DML is a wonder on the mic — crooning with an ethereal, souful tone that hits eardrums gracefully.
While Ed Sheeran first blessed Fireboy with a feature on his breakout hit “Peru” in December 2021, it pushed the afro-pop singer’s name into mainstream circles. Off the back of albums in Apollo (2020) and Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps (2019), as he continues to embed himself in the game. However, it seems like he isn’t quite finished — recruiting 21 Savage and Blxst on a new remix to “Peru.”
An upbeat yet airy instrumental provides just enough bounce for all of the aforementioned artists to flex their respective styles. On the latest remix, Blxst slides impeccably with seductive lyrics before 21 comes in, touting his signature matter-of-fact delivery with a romantic twist.
“When you see me I’m on go mode
To the rap game and I put it in a chokehold (21)
Hit it from the back, I’m going loco
Twenty million dollars in a year and that’s with no shows(21)
Say she love me, but I’m deaf, yeah, So So(Facts)
She got a thing for Chanel,I call her CoCo
I wanna see you wine, get on all fours
Lace front, but she likes her beats Afro”
21 Savage — “Peru” by Fireboy DML
21 Savage has been slowly climbing back into his bag in 2022, appearing on tracks with Gunna, J.I.D. and Baby Tate. Blxst has been hard at work since his appearance on last year’s XXL Freshman Class, featuring alongside Wale, Murda Beatz, Pink Sweat$ and more.
After a fiery start to the year, Fireboy DML is well on his way to becoming a household name if he builds upon this hit.
