Two of the industry’s grooviest link up to deliver another smooth summer record.
Although KAYTRANADA is currently on tour in support of The Weeknd’s “After Hours ‘Til Dawn Tour,” he didn’t let that stop him from delivering new music. Most recently, he linked up with Anderson .Paak to deliver their fresh new single, “Twin Flame.”
With Kay, once one of his records comes on, you’re going to know it’s him. His sonics are so recognizable and infectious that they fully immerse fans into his world. That trend continues here, aided by some smooth vocals from Anderson .Paak.
.Paak has been getting a lot more recognition over the past few years due to his Grammy victories and contributions to Silk Sonic — the funk-inspired duo featuring Bruno Mars. Following a similar formula he used for those Silk Sonic releases, Anderson delivers that same vibe and connects well with Kaytranada’s production here, birthing a track that feels so natural and sonically pleasing.
Accompanying the single, Kaytranada and Anderson .Paak also delivered some chilling visuals. Set in a warehouse surrounded by flame machines, Kay and .Paak stand upon an elevated platform stage — Similar to Kanye‘s stage setting from the Saint Pablo Tour in 2016 — as concertgoers underneath groove to the beat.
Overall, “Twin Flame” is the perfect promotion for those unfamiliar with KAYTRANADA, who has been racking up impressive producer placements for over a decade now. While his persona allows him to live in the shadows, which may be by design, his work should not go unnoticed. The KAYTRANADA bounce is one that has been often imitated, but never duplicated, evident on his latest single.
