Lil Wayne needs no introduction. Between his insurmountable success as both a musician and celebrity, he’s an undoubted hip-hop “GOAT” for many reasons.
Whether it be legendary features, classic mixtape archive or his recent foray as a pro skater, his Carter album series is perhaps the most iconic in the game — playing a large role in his legacy and hip-hop history alike. Now, Wayne looks to continue the coveted double trilogy with the forthcoming Tha Carter VI.
Announcing his 28-date “Welcome To Tha Carter Tour” with Rolling Loud on Tuesday (Jan. 31), Wayne initially took the stage at the Young Money Reunion show on Aug. 6 to reveal plans of the series’ sixth edition — confirming the announcement in a video posted to Young Money’s Twitter. The video announcement was accompanied by a pre-save link for the record, as Tha Carter VI could drop just in time for the 28-date tour’s kickoff in April.

In usual Weezy fashion, he remained hard at work dropping verses on tracks for Chris Brown, The Weeknd, Jack Harlow and more in 2022. The New Orleans emcee also added an expanded version of his 2011 mixtape Sorry 4 The Wait — which leads in to the eventual release of his highly-anticipated studio album.
Additionally, the Young Money Reunion show was a smash-hit this past weekend in Toronto. Despite being delayed for nearly a week after Drake tested positive for COVID-19, Wayne, Drizzy and Nicki Minaj all took the stage to perform their collective hits and relive the nostalgia of their coveted Young Money run. The concert, which was part of Drake’s OVO Fest, saw the 6 God pay homage to his Young Money family, calling them the “greatest rappers of all-time.” “Are these bitches serious? Nobody can f**k with Nicki,” Drake said. “It’s like the originator. It starts here, ends here.”
“I love you. I would go to the end of the earth for this man. You changed my f—in’ life and you changed this city forever,” he said. “So make some f—in’ noise for the greatest rapper of all time.”
