Meek Mill ends management deal with Roc Nation

For the majority of his career, Meek Mill has boasted the partnership he’s had with his idol JAY-Z and coveted label Roc Nation. Since inking a deal in 2012, the Philly icon has now tweaked his relationship with one of hip-hop’s most legendary imprints.

According to Billboard, Meek Mill has ended his management deal with Roc Nation on Monday (July 11), taking to Twitter to explain that he plans to handle his business endeavors himself moving forward.

However, considering Roc Nation oversees Meek’s Dreamchasers label (a deal they solidified in 2019), and his Reform Alliance — a foundation he created with JAY-Z to support prison reform — he still plans to have an amicable relationship with the Roc.

While addressing this, Meek also clarified that Roc Nation has nothing to do with the gripe he has against Atlantic Records currently, who is responsible for his publishing. In February, Meek scolded Atlantic on Twitter for their lack of promotion for his most recent studio album Expensive Pain, as well as being responsible for causing a minor rift between him and Roddy Ricch.

While it’s currently unclear what Meek plans to do with his business portfolio now that he’s no longer under the guidance of Roc Nation, he seems to determined to make waves again soon — which could include a possible NFT mixtape only available through blockchain.
