Apologies for our April Fools prank Carti fans. This asset has been updated.
If you’ve been out of the loop on MUSIC news, Playboi Carti is currently battling an internet-wide breach of content, which includes a hour-long documentary and a handful of unreleased collaborations with 16*29 twin Lil Uzi Vert.
“Me and my luv about to take over the world,” Uzi posted on their Instagram story last month, igniting calls for a long overdue collab from the SoundCloud-era pioneers. Soon after, a slew of tracks spread all over the web. Most of these now-scrubbed songs gave starving fans something to cling on to in the meantime. Interestingly enough, Carti was reported to have rented out every room at a Manhattan Beach studio in New York City, actively preventing another breach and mending his next album.

‘MUSIC’ coming soon 👀 #OGM pic.twitter.com/wC8caYsBkC
Locking down his camp to seemingly finish his forthcoming LP MUSIC, the Opium mogul premiered a new track, “ROCKSTAR,” during his headlining set at Rolling Loud California last month. Carti is presumed to headline the festival’s flagship event in Miami this summer, previously headlining in New York City in 2022.
Ultimately, these leaks are not a good sign of what’s to come. Fans will more than likely have to wait longer for Whole Lotta Red’s follow-up, as he looks to restructure its rollout, tracklist and potentially more in the months to follow. Mystery is Carti’s allure, and this breach doesn’t bode well for those hoping MUSIC would drop sometime soon. Carti runs on his own time. New music will only come when he wants it to.
