In 2015, a buzzing Philadelphia-bred artist stepped into the spotlight with his debut album RNB3. The project glistened with a steady mixture of R&B and hip-hop, as the vocal prowess of PnB Rock would initially wow new listeners and take over the game all at once.
Fast forward to 2016 and PnB went on to release one of his biggest songs to date — his multi-platinum single “Selfish.” This song propelled him to stardom after he was introduced to mainstream audiences, and in a blink, the rest was history.
Since 2016, PnB Rock has acquired a plethora of platinum certifications and has worked with just about every notable artist in the industry. It wasn’t until 2020 that PnB Rock really started to lay low. During 2020, we saw him appear on only five songs, releasing one single titled “Ordinary” featuring the late Pop Smoke.
However this year, PnB Rock has been putting things together — hopping on six collab tracks and dropping three of his own singles. He kicked off the year with “Rose Gold” featuring the late Chicago star, King Von, and also dropped “Forever Never” with Rae Sremmurd star, Swae Lee.
Although he’s been much quieter lately than in recent years, it hasn’t been all white noise for PnB Rock and his artistic endeavors. A trend that has taken over TikTok in the last few months is a viral dance to PnB Rock’s 2016 single “High.”
“High” was officially unreleased at the time of its rise to popularity across TikTok — only available on YouTube and SoundCloud since it originally was shared. Although it has been quite some time since PnB Rock had this much attention, he officially added the track to all streaming platforms this past weekend.
This could be a crucial turning point in PnB Rock’s career — given his lack of output lately. We have not seen a project from PnB in well over two years and his single “High” stands as his fifth single in nearly three years.
Given the music ability and vocal talent PnB possesses, fans can only hope that he takes full advantage of his viral success and finds the “High” within his lows.
