Quavo, Takeoff tag-team once again on ‘Us vs. Them’ with Gucci Mane

Amid the rumors flying around this summer of Quavo and Takeoff separating from Offset and disbanded the Migos, the duo continues to pursue the two-man game.

After dropping their debut single “Hotel Lobby” as “Unc & Phew,” in mid-May, Quavo and Takeoff have returned for their follow-up, recruiting the man who helped bolster the Migos at the start of their career. On Friday (July 29), they released “Us vs. Them,” a single that they previewed the weekend before at Rolling Loud when they brought Guwop on stage to join them.

Produced by DJ Durel, their longtime collaborator responsible for Migo hits like “Narcos,” “Racks 2 Skinny” and “MotorSport,” “Us vs. Them” is a hyper-aggressive, intimidating cut full of trap drums and snares and a plethora of sports allusions.

Takeoff opens the song with a verse sandwiched by his “If it’s us versus them, who you think gon’ win?” hook. All throughout his portion, Take delivers bars about his cutthroat attitude and multitude of luxury vehicles, a typical yet reliable approach for the consistently overlooked Migo.

I been runnin’ up that chicken, I ain’t tired (Go)

Ain’t shed another tear since when my grandma diеd (Grandma)

I got an all white Rolls with the bloody guts inside (Yеp)

Think sh*t sweet, then try it

Steppin’ in shoes that’s not your size (N****s ain’t steppin’)

The back of the Maybach I sit and recline (Thinkin’ ’bout what?)

Quavo and Gucci’s subsequent verses see them uphold the hostile tone that Takeoff set to kick off the track, as Huncho’s hoops references to Glen Rice and “hitting swishes” like Steph and Klay lead into Guwop pleading for all his incarcerated rap friends to be freed.

How you think gonna beat the Wop? You know you gonna lose (Huh)

Why bring her to the function when you know she wanna choose? (Yeah)

Free Young Thug and Gunna, while you at it Pooh and Foo (Slime)

Let my n****s out, you know they havin’ somethin’ to do (Brick)

It seems as though this uncle and nephew tandem will continue to persist as the Offset questions loom. But, it’s hard to complain when the duo is shooting 100% from the field after two back-to-back successful singles.
