Now that the Migos are nearly a year removed from completing their Culture trilogy last June, frontman Quavo seems have his sights set on other endeavors.
In an interview in October 2021 with King Keraun of Complex, Quavo discussed his plans for 2022 which included a new solo project that was in the works.
Along with mentioning that Migos would announce their Culture III tour at some point, which is now seeming less and less likely, he stated that he intends to drop his solo album at some point this year.
“Probably like next year, the Huncho solo project will come out,” Quavo said.
Since the start of 2022, he has now released two singles, one as a solo artist and one with his nephew and one-third of Migos, Takeoff. While January’s “Shooters Inside My Crib” certainly coincides with the recent decree that he had a solo album on the way, Quavo and Takeoff’s “Hotel Lobby” from May 20 may have caused a detour to those plans.
With the “Unc and Phew” duo potentially distracting him from his solo efforts, it could have also thrown a wrench into the nucleus of the Migos, let alone plans for a tour. There is not much known about Quavo and Takeoff’s strategy going forward, but it did not seem to go over well with their other third Offset, who unfollowed both of them on social media ahead of the “Hotel Lobby” release.

Quavo’s first solo effort came in October 2018, as he released QUAVO HUNCHO with stellar features like Drake, Travis Scott, Lil Baby, 21 Savage and more.
The album came around the same time as the two other fellow Migos were trying their hands at solo careers. Takeoff released his debut solo project The Last Rocket in early November 2018 and Offset did the same with FATHER OF 4 in February 2019.
Perhaps this time around, Offset would still take the solo route, while Quavo would either follow suit or stay attached to Takeoff and continue to flesh out this duo.

None of the three Migos have commented on their plans for the summer or the rest of 2022, but with two releases under his belt to start the year, it would be fair to assume Quavo could have his name associated with a full-length project at some point in 2022.
