Eem Triplin thrives reflecting on heartbreak, recounting a former flame on his latest single “stephanie” (Jan. 9).
Known for his infectious vocal stacks, the STILL PRETTY emcee effortlessly weaves his meme-era humor and charming personality into each of his songs — validating his status as an emerging superstar.
Produced by both Eem and Sauron (“WALKED IN” and “WASTED TIMES”), “stephanie” is a somber yet vibey cut filled with poignant piano chords, warbling vox samples and an island bounce, as Eem dives into the throes of a recent romantic encounter. In other words, “stephanie” has Eem in his feelings.
Exploring the aftermath of heartbreak and how infidelity has contributed to his personal growth, lines like “When Stephanie broke my heart, I evolved, I became who I am who I are,” displays Triplin’s innate ability to cast a spell over listeners with intrepid lyricism and his now-signature, enthralling soundscape. Its coinciding visual was shot during Triplin’s debut headlining “STILL PRETTY TOUR,” capturing Eem performing, backstage, flexing his dance moves and more.
2023 was transformative for the 22-year-old rapper-producer, marked by sold-out performances on his first-ever headlining tour, supporting roles on treks by LUCKI and longtime collaborator $NOT (who is set to share his new single “0 PERCENT” on Jan. 12) and premier festival slots at Rolling Loud Miami and Summer Smash, among others.
