Skaiwater enlists Uzi for ‘#miles’ remix ahead of debut project ‘rave’

Skaiwater and Lil Uzi Vert are a duo we didn’t know we needed — teaming up for a new remix of the UK star’s breakout hit “#miles.” The young phenom’s biggest collab to date is perfectly timed to set the stage for his debut project, rave — which is set to drop on Friday (Nov. 4).

Keeping true to his trendy reputation, in recent months Uzi has been taking note of the new wave of young, energetic, dance-inclined artists rising out of the Northeast, tapping in with 2Rare and Dsturdy out of his native Philly and Jersey Club’s foremost producer, McVertt for his latest single “I Just Wanna Rock”. This week, it was only right he tapped in with the most viral artist of the moment, and could not be a better match alongside Skaiwater on the new remix of his trending viral smash, “#miles.”

This year, the 22-year-old UK-native artist-producer has exploded onto the scene, captivating audiences with his gentle melodic vocal coupled with his bass-bumping, genre-bending approach to dance music.

With his wholly unique style and largely self-produced sound, Skaiwater has made massive waves with several extremely catchy hits and purpose-built remixes. Co-produced by JDolla and Skai himself, “#miles” has dominated social media with over 1.5M TikToks, 22M Spotify streams, and not one but two spots in the TikTok Top 10 Chart. And its megahit status was all but sealed this week after he announced a dream feature from Uzi for the remix.

In addition to his captivating vocal and dance-inducing sound, another key to the success of “#miles” has been his strategic remixes, optimizing the song’s catchiest moments and pouring gasoline on the fire with “#miles (OMG edit)” and a “Jersey Mix” featuring NJ-natives Riovaz and Bandmanrill, the Jersey club godfather himself. Skaiwater has employed a similar strategy with his other big hit “eyes,” whose “Vip Mix” has eclipsed the original as one of the most popular songs on TikTok in recent months.

As a result of his undeniably unique sound and unignorable virality, big names are tapping in. Not only has he connected with fellow new wave phenoms like midwxst, Lil Nas X has offered multiple co-signs and recently confirmed Skaiwater would be joining him for the European leg of his international tour.

Outside of his UK origins and affiliation with Cinematic Music Group, not much was known about this hidden gem until his recent interview with OGM’s Hakeem Rowe, where he delved more into his journey, inspiration, and plans for his upcoming album.

While Skaiwater has successfully remained an enigma up until this point, it seems like all that might be about to change as he gears up to drop his debut project amidst a whirlwind of well-deserved hype.
