When Louisiana’s Autumn! released his Golden Child, Chapter 1 project last summer, he was only in the early stages of a new wave takeover, alongside his parter-in-crime Summrs.
Now that both of the producer-rappers have ascended to the apex of the underground’s visibility, Autumn! has been on an impeccable run in 2022. After dropping his late April album Antagonist!, his preparatory four-song EP ##B4gc2 last month and additional batch of scattered singles, he’s written the second chapter to his beloved Golden Child series.
Dropping the featureless 7-track project on Friday (Aug. 26), Golden Child, Chapter 2 paints an epic portrait for the Victor Victor signee. It’s yet another gigantic step in Autumn!’s stratospheric, young career, as he looks to capitalize on an already career-elevating 2022 with his latest effort.
Highlights in “Golden Child!” and “Jay N Bey!” continue to showcase Autumn!’s knack for genre-bending sounds backed by left-of-center, autotune-heavy vocals. Overall, GCC2 is the epitome of Autumn!’s soundscape, rekindling the love and passion he lost for music after the release of Antagonist! earlier this year.
While GCC2 dropped on the same night as other thrilling albums in JID’s The Forever Story and DJ Khaled’s God Did, Autumn’s dedicated fanbase will surely uplift his project and help it achieve stellar numbers — relative to his blossoming status.
