Off the back of executive producing The Game’s Drillmatic: Mind vs. Heart, producer-rapper extraordinaire Hit-Boy fires off an array of sizzling rhymes on his new single “Fire Proof” (Aug. 19).
While the Grammy-winning producer has been known to set the booth ablaze — previously dropping off “Salute” with Big Sean and Fivio Foreign and “Corsa” with DOM KENNEDY — “Fire Proof” sees Hit bounce back-and-forth between two beats that work in tandem.
Leading in with somber production that imitates a slow burn, “Fire Proof” soon flips a switch as Hit-Boy turns up the heat — tearing off a barrage of fiery bars that complement the track’s infectious, summertime bounce. Hit has all the attitude this song needs, however, the beat is just as “Fire Proof” as his track presence — asserting that he’s “fully with it.”

Amid “Fire Proof’s” release, Hit-Boy revealed that he’s working on a compilation tape and an album of his own in a recent interview with XXL. Also teasing an upcoming collaboration with Westside Gunn and Jay Electronica, listeners can simply expect greatness if Hit-Boy is involved in any capacity.
“I been seeing a lot of people saying I should do a compilation of my own with my beats and just different artists. That’s something I wanna turn up on. Look out for that Hit-Boy compilation. My rap album, too. I got all types of joints coming.”
