Anderson .Paak has been deep in his collaborative bag as of late. Coming off a 2022 Grammys sweep for his work with Bruno Mars on their joint Silk Sonic album, .Paak is back with an old friend to reinvigorate his first collective NxWorries.
Reviving a duo that had not released music together since 2017, renowned producer Knxwledge — best known for his work with Kendrick Lamar and Joey Bada$$ — and Andy released their brand new single “Where I Go” on Wednesday (Oct. 19).
Featuring one of R&B’s most decorated and beloved artists currently, “Where I Go” includes an elegant verse from H.E.R. late in the song, as she also joins Anderson to star in the music video. Released simultaneously with the single, the cinematic, dramatic love story portrayed in the visuals sets a perfect stage for the romantic cut.
Providing sensual guitar strumming and soft drums on the instrumental, Knxwledge’s production allows for .Paak’s smooth singing about the trust issues in his love affair to be on full display. With multiple renditions of the two-part “She wanna know where I’m goin'” and “I know we do a lot of back and forth” hook, Andy paints a clear picture of the struggle between love and lust in his relationship.
“Where I Go” sees NxWorries pick up just where they left off with Yes Lawd!, as the tandem has been working towards their next studio album all year long. First announcing it in January, this upcoming album has yet to be given a title or release date, but it’s probable that “Where I Go” will serve as their lead single.
