With his upcoming album set to drop in “the first quarter of 2023,” Polo G is wasting no time readying fans with a rollout.
Dropping the unnamed project’s presumed lead single “No Time Wasted” on Friday (Feb. 17), it’s not only a welcome reminder of the Chicago all-star’s mainstream imprint, but marks his first collaboration with trap legend Future. Recently joining the Freebandz CEO on his “One Big Party Tour,” their chemistry is undeniable — backed by production from one of Atlanta’s finest: Southside.
“No Time Wasted” sees Polo stray away from his usual piano-type beat, as both ATL icons sprinkle their signature, melodic sauce on the track. The motivational record fully relays Polo’s heartfelt bars about patience and addiction, with the Southside-produced beat breeding a sense of artistic elevation with uplifting organs and hard-hitting trap drums.
He and Future introspectively rap about their deceased friends, money and the hustle, as the coinciding visual depicts Polo, Future and Southside as key pieces of a football team — cutting back and forth from the players on the field to soldiers in the heat of battle.
“Uh, I know you waitin’
Gettin’ fed up, you runnin’ out of patience
Just keep your head up, I told you we would make it
Can’t give my meds up, I see too many faces, uh”
Polo G – “No Time Wasted”
Throughout 2022, Polo G took a backseat from the spotlight, only dropping a series of singles in “Distraction,” “My All” and “Bag Talk.” Now midway through February, he’s re-emerging to give the game what’s it’s been missing. Since achieving superstar acclaim with his Billboard No. 1 hit “Rapstar” in 2021, the 24-year old rapper looks to evolve in this next phase of his career — and on his fourth studio album.
