On Nov. 4, Drizzy made “Knife Talk (feat. 21 Savage & Project Pat)” the album’s second official music video. He first announced the video on Thursday evening, and released it shortly after at 9 pm ET.
The video replicates a classic horror movie from the 20th century, as it uses superimposed clips taken from actual films to portray the actors rapping along the lyrics to the song. Also included are vintage animated clips from classic Halloween cartoons, helping to execute the spooky atmosphere of the song.
For each of Drake’s, 21 Savage’s and Project Pat’s appearances in the video, they are seen waiting creepily outside of a house through its security camera, hoping to alarm and scare the residents inside.
The themes presented in the video surely encapsulate the wicked intentions of the song, which became eligible for Platinum certification at the beginning of October.
The only other music video released for CLB was for the smash hit “Way 2 Sexy” with Future and Young Thug, released the morning after the album on Sept. 3. The visuals included a hilariously awkward cameo from Los Angeles Clippers basketball star Kawhi Leonard.
“Knife Talk” was one of the few songs to receive edits after the album’s release, as Drake updated the vocals, bass, lyrics and more in late September.
The release of the “Knife Talk” music video comes on the heels of the fifth anniversary of Drake and 21 Savage’s first collaboration “Sneakin” on Oct. 24.
