Returning from 2093, Yeat is bringing fans into the LYFËSTYLE he’s appeared to always live—even if he’s from another planet.
After 2093 debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, the Portland-born LA-based rapper’s scored his first No. 1 album of his career, selling 89,000 first-week units. Announced via a trailer directed by the prolific Gibson Hazrd (Pink Tape, Heroes & Villains, Savage Mode II), LYFËSTYLE seems to be the second act to his undoubted mainstream arrival on 2093.
Released on Friday (Oct. 18), early highlights like “FATË,” “GEEK TIME” and “BE QUIET,” which features ad-libs from Lazer Dim 700, set the tone for another otherworldly sonic excursion—the production is truly out of this world.
In an interview with The Fader, Yeat spoke on Synthetic, the producer behind many of his early hits, and his work ethic on LYFËSTYLE. The Internet Money producer has his fingerprints all over the album. As its executive producer over 4,800 beats were said to be in consideration to make the record. “[Synthetic] is a beat f*cking factory,” Yeat said. “This guy could pump out, any given day, 400 beats… I would listen to every single one of them.”
Yeat’s fifth studio album recruits Kodak Black, Lil Durk and brings forth a reunion with fellow Slayworld member Summrs as well as “Heavy Stunts” and “GEEKED UP” collaborator Don Toliver. Yeat also shared a slew of alternate versions of artwork, touting a horse edition, dune edition and drone edition. The last we heard from the elusive emcee was with day-one BNYX on the producer’s official single “GO AGAIN” in late-August.
Yeat’s prolific climb over the past two years has been nothing short of phenomenal. With albums in 2 Alivë, Lyfe, AfterLyfe and 2093, the mysterious 23-year-old rapper continues to progress, evolve and immerse fans with every new drop.
With his next—and perhaps best—era looming, to move forward, you must go back. And for Yeat, there’s no better time than the present.
