YG snags an all-star lineup in J. Cole, Moneybagg Yo on latest single ‘Scared Money’

It’s been two years since we’ve received a solo project from Los Angeles icon YG.

Making a star-studded return on his latest single “Scared Money” — flexing his financial status with Moneybagg Yo and J. Cole this surprise track seems to be just the beginning for YG in 2022. With a red carpet reintroduction to the well-respected rapper, listeners can only expect greatness to follow suit on his impending LP.

With a booming instrumental consisting of a simple piano loop and heavy bass, the unlikely trio spits extravagant bars on “Scared Money” about their respective amounts of wealth. Accompanying visuals depict all three rappers surrounded by bank vaults, armored vehicles and bags of cash.

“I’m so lit, SportCenter gotta post my clips

One lay-up and they treat me like I’m Luka Dončić

2-6, nigga, and we used to conflict

Turn these brand new YG sneakers into Louboutin kicks

Red bottoms ’cause the blood bled out ’em, aw damn

If I’m miss ’em, 4Hunnid red dot ’em, aw damn

I was thinkin’ ’bout walkin’ up a stack of crates (Hmm)

But I was busy stackin’ cake, heheh”

J. Cole — “Scared Money”

Cole is keeping up his coveted streak of unexpectedly fire features, hopping on Benny the Butcher’s introspective single “Johnny P’s Caddy” last week. Moneybagg Yo has been equally busy, recently dropping a verse on NLE Choppa’s “Too Hot” off of Me vs. Me and has been seen working with Ye for his new album DONDA 2.

With “Scared Money” hitting streaming services Friday (Feb. 4), YG seems to now be fully focused on his solo efforts after a year of collaborative projects. The California emcee previously joined forces with Mozzy for Kommunity Service, a 10-track album with features from Ty Dolla $ign, G Herbo, Young MA, A Boogie and more.
