“No. 8” is on the way, as Dro Kenji’s pink-shaded era starts with a heat check.
Dropping off his upcoming album’s lead single “ARSONIST” on Friday (April 14), the Internet Money enigma’s hype is at an all-time high stemming from his high-powered collab with “STEP BACK” teammate Mike Dimes on “KISS N TELL” (March 24).
The new single, which features spacey, synth-led production from IM’s Cxdy, Frankie Bash and Bak Beats, sees Kenji glide ever-so-effortlessly once more. Proving to be the previously teased “ILUVDATSHIT,” Kenji is on “demon time” on this short yet sweet banger. This isn’t a surprise, though, as the 21-year-old South Carolina native utilizes his infectious vocals and a one-of-a-kind ear to craft magic every time he hits the booth — catapaulting him to the forefront of the new wave in the process. As far as long-teased singles go, this was one of Kenji’s most anticipated.
The visual, directed Keaton Jones (whose worked among the likes of Eem Triplin, Rich Amiri, Mike Dimes and more), features clips of Kenji’s sold-out “ANYWHERE BUT HERE Tour” as well as sinister shots of the rapper dripping to the nines.

Kenji, who’s become one of the most prolific rising voices over the past several years, bursted onto the scene in late-2019 with his eye-catching Internet Money debut TEARS & PISTOLS. Since then, he’s averaged three projects a year, as his latest ANYWHERE BUT HERE saw the Sourh Carolina crooner recruit a slew of his underground compatriots, like DC The Don, NoCap, KA$HDAMI and more. His latest single “UDNTLUVME” was a step into a more experimental direction — an iridescent Jersey club bop that was initially thought to lead in his forthcoming LP
Following his joint tour with fellow new wave leader midwxst last year, Kenji’s archive continues to grow alongside his audience. With fans begging for more unreleased gems in his comments, “ARSONIST” is the fire Kenji needed ahead of his next album dropping this Spring.
