Denzel Curry‘s March album Melt My Eyez, See Your Future set a course for his potential hip-hop album of the year campaign — driven by its bold experimentation and transparent, vulnerable message.
Currently, Zel is still on his “MELT MY EYEZ” U.S. tour, which includes acts like Mike Dimes, Kenny Mason, AG Club and redveil, as well as coinciding with his inclusion on Kid Cudi‘s “To The Moon” tour. However, this has not stopped him from his continued, aggressive promotion of his undeniably impressive album. After first announcing MMESYF’s deluxe in May on Twitter, Zel has officially returned half a year after his album release to drop its highly-anticipated Expanded Edition on Friday (Sept. 30).
Consisting of 10 tracks, Melt My Eyez See Your Future: The Expanded Edition sees Zel employ the 10-piece ensemble Cold Blooded Soul to provide a more jazzy interpretation of the original album. With eight new “Cold Blooded Soul Versions” of album songs, plus two new tracks “Chrome Hearts” featuring Zacari and “Larger Than Life,” Denzel executes the message he gave on Twitter earlier this week when he said the deluxe would sound like a “live album” with tons of jazz experimentation.
Cold Blooded Soul should be a familiar name for fans that follow Curry closely, considering they helped bring MMESYF to life during his recent NPR Tiny Desk concert. Performing tracks like “Melt Session #1,” “Walkin” and “Troubles,” the YouTube performance gave listeners a glimpse of what The Expanded Edition has to offer.
Ahead of Friday’s release, Curry put out the exquisitely produced music video for “X-Wing” on Monday (Sept. 26), which is the album’s fourth music video. With “X-Wing,” Curry aims to win VMAs and open people’s eyes to his visual prowess, as all of Melt‘s music videos have delivered cinematic results.
So You’re basically getting a live sounding album but don’t get me wrong there will be songs that were suppose to make the original cut

In an interview we conducted with him in early August, Denzel told us that the deluxe could be described as the extended, IMAX version of a movie, the film in this case being the OG version of Melt My Eyez. In hindsight, it now appears Curry followed through with this plan to perfection, considering many of the fan-favorite songs on the album are now reimagined through a jazzy lens. When speaking with us, he could not contain his excitement while explaining that the deluxe would “live on its own in comparison (to Melt)” and that “it’s gonna blow your mind.” He was absolutely correct
Initially, fans believed his late May remix of “Walkin” with Key Glock would be the lead single for the deluxe, but with this curveball, Zel adds even more dimensions and fluidity to the world of Melt. Throughout such an eventful year, as he has pulled out all the stops to promote his “magnum opus” project, Denzel Curry has made it clear that he is always prioritizing his artistry.
