Don Toliver drops first single off ‘Lovesick’ in ‘Do It Right’

After unveiling a new track at Rihanna’s “Savage X Fenty Show, Vol. 4” this month, there’s finally an end in sight for Don Toliver’s next full-length release.

Sharing “Do It Right” on Friday (Nov. 18), the Cactus Jack star initially teased his comeback track with clips of TisaKorean dancing to it in the studio. Proving to be the first single off his forthcoming album, “Do It Right” is the epitome of Don’s love-laced soundscape following a year without any solo work.

Sampling S.O.S. Band’s “Take Your Time (Do It Right),” the droning, thumping 808s allow Toliver’s voice to shine. “Gonna end up falling in love with you / it’s the type of shit you expose me to,” he sings on the refrain, pushing the track forward with progressing dance synths and underwater claps. Ultimately, Donny just wants “to party all night” on this groovy offering. A dance track more than a hip-hop cut, “Do It Right” sounds tailor-made for the club as Donny hits the discotheque in a red velvet suit in the visual.

Toliver has been riding the success of his sophomore album Life Of A DON since last October. Following both international and domestic tours, “Do It Right” is Toliver’s first solo release of 2022. However, he’s been quite active as a feature artist — most recently hopping on his labelmate SoFaygo’s debut record Pink Heartz (“Slip”). He also appeared on “Ain’t Safe” with Trippie Redd, as well as Justin Bieber (“Honest”), NAV and Future (“One Time”).

His upcoming album, reportedly titled Lovesick, is also set to drop sometime “soon.” With Donny back in the spotlight, the Cactus Jack crooner is doing it right until Lovesick drops.
