Powers Pleasant recruits Maxo Kream, Kenny Mason, Bas, Erick The Architect for ‘Overseas’

While often overlooked, Powers Pleasant has long been one of the most involved and sought out producers in East Coast hip-hop for the last half decade.

Since helping co-found PRO ERA — the label that housed Joey Bada$$ — in the early 2010s, Powers has not only been releasing music as his own artist and recruiting elite talent to supply vocals, but also has provided instrumentals for stars like Joey, BTS and Juice WRLD, Flatbush Zombies and Denzel Curry, who recorded the “Got the beat by Powers and we just made a banger” producer tag for him.

Most recently, aside from his posse-cut loaded, 2019 album Life is Beautiful which saw features from Joey, Denzel, IDK, A$AP Ferg, Jay Critch, Buddy and more, Powers put out a fiery track titled “Evil Twin” in 2021 with Denzel and beloved New Yorker and 1/2 of City Morgue ZillaKami. “Evil Twin” also came with a slew of remixes from Powers including “Slowed n Reverb,” “OG Mix” and “Chopped n Screwed” versions.

Now, with his first official release of the year, Powers Pleasant has brought together some of the most unique, blossoming and cult-favorite talents together. On June 15, he released “Overseas,” featuring Maxo Kream, Kenny Mason, Bas and Erick The Architect of Flatbush Zombies.

Over a potent violin beat and driven by the “Slug on my neck like aqua” Maxo hook, each of the artists takes turns rattling off a thrilling verse that properly exhibits of their individual flairs and approaches.

For the songs music video, which was shot the week of the release, Powers pays a visit to the cities where each artist was stationed at the time. Whether it be Maxo Kream’s hometown of Houston, Kenny Mason’s hometown of Atlanta or LA with Dreamville prospect Bas and Erick, the visuals present many different atmospheres.

Powers Pleasant has truly developed a knack for attracting talent and throwing them all on a beat that yields success.
