Strick puts on for YSL with new project ‘The Machine Vol. III’

Amid a tumultuous year for Young Stoner Life Records — which saw Gunna reach incredible heights with “Pushin P” alongside YSL boss Young Thug then falling to YSL’s sweeping RICO case — rising artist Strick has persisted through it all.

Shouldering much of the music responsibilities for YSL while his label-mates await trial, Strick is making the most out of unfortunate circumstances. On Friday (July 1), Strick dropped his new project The Machine, Vol. 3 — continuing the series he first launched in 2019 with Vols. 1 & 2. The track list for Vol. 3 contains promotional single “Nelly Furtado,” released on June 3, and features from beloved actor Idris Elba, British new wave star Lancey Foux and others.

The rollout for The Machine, Vol. 3 consisted of three portions, with the first being the album announcement, the second being his inclusion in Kid Cudi‘s September “Moon Man’s Landing” festival in Ohio and the third being his addition to Kid Cudi’s “To The Moon” nationwide tour this fall, joined also by Don Toliver, Denzel Curry and 070 Shake.

Strick and Cudi’s relationship first began when the two collaborated on Slime Language 2, meshing perfectly on the song “Moon Man” in 2021. Now, Cudi has appeared to take Strick under his wing while his YSL mentors struggle with legal issues.

Slated to have a busy fall on the road and continuing to uphold the YSL name, Strick’s star continues to rise on The Machine, Vol. 3. Thanks to co-signs like Cudi’s and this new project, he will only supplement this much-needed ascent during a difficult time for his label.
