It seems as though Kid Cudi, Denzel Curry and JID are having the biggest years of their careers all at once.
Cudi — who has been heavily promoting his upcoming Netflix series and companion album Entergalactic — not only announced a tour with Denzel Curry earlier this week, but spits alongside him on “Talk About Me” with the Dreamville wordsmith and his beloved, career-long, in-house producer Dot Da Genius.
With all three icons side-by-side, Dot — who is responsible for a few of Cudi’s biggest hits like “Day N Nite (Nightmare),” “Tequila Shots” and “Reborn” with Kanye West — released “Talk About Me” on Friday (June 24). Accompanied with a music video executed by the hottest visual creator in the game, Cole Bennett, the Lyrical Lemonade visual brings all four of these collaborators together for a truly epic moment.
2022 has been extremely kind to Cudi — as he has teased two new projects amid his budding acting and production career. Put into motion by his stunning performance in the recent A24 horror flick X, Cudi’s Entergalactic and coinciding “To The Moon” World Tour are positioning him for a late-year takeover.
For Denzel Curry, his March album Melt My Eyez, See Your Future certified him as one of hip-hop’s most talented and underappreciated artists. His promotion of this album, which has included a two-legged tour that runs through October (as well as MMESYF’s upcoming deluxe), has been occupying most of his time.
Similarly, JID has been hard at work finishing his highly-anticipated third studio album The Forever Story — which has been in the works since before the COVID-19 pandemic struck. With promotional singles in “Surround Sound” with 21 Savage and Baby Tate, and freestyle efforts like “29 Freestyle,” the Dreamville lyrical prodigy is locked in — providing his fans with a worthwhile return much sooner than later.
But, for “Talk About Me” these ultra-busy stars took the time to deliver a unique new single. It’s difficult to imagine a more intriguing and promising group of artists that Dot Da Genius could have assembled — certainly giving something fans to talk about.
