Dropping the 22-track album on Friday (Oct. 28), Lancey’s latest was fittingly shared on Halloween weekend — teasing the record with horror-inspired images that have accompanied its promotion this month.
Foux rides solo on the majority of the album, tapping producer extraordinaire KAYTRANADA for two tracks as well as singer-songwriter 070 Shake for a delightful collaboration. Singles in “LANCEY OR LANCEY,” “ALL NIGHT LONG” and “SPIRIT OF X2C — the ethereal opening track for LIFE IN HELL — all came with enigmatic visuals that play on the contrast of his celestial vocals and dark artistic aesthetic.
Despite the lengthy wait for LIH, Lancey has been anything but stagnant — appearing on standout tracks by KayCyy, Yeat, Johan Lenox, Strick, Matt Ox and more. His most recent collaboration was with fellow underground up-and-comer tana, flexing on listeners with a designer-themed track titled “swaggin like this.”
The London rockstar enhances unbridled artistry ten-fold on LIFE IN HELL, as the album could very well settle in to be the magnum opus Foux promised last year.
