LUCKI makes Lyrical Lemonade debut with iPhone-shot visual ‘Coincidence,’ ‘Double Check’

Lyrical Lemonade head honcho Cole Bennett always has something up his sleeve, sharing not one, but two new visuals this week.

Blessing fans with a pair of videos featuring the “underground king” Lucki, Bennett’s latest treatments for the Chicago rapper’s 2016 track “DOUBLE CHECK” (which dropped on LL’s second channel) and his latest single “Coincidence” have both been a long time coming.

Dropping the London-based video (shot on Bennett’s iPhone) on Friday (Aug. 19), it was a “Coincidence” the two had found each other across the pond for this link-up. Featuring his effortlessly signature laid-back flow, Lucki spits over an ethereal instrumental with high-energy drums and an ethereal, toy keyboard-driven melody.

At the end of the video, Cole includes a handful of fun facts about the shoot, saying that the car Lucki was posted up in was a 1963 Rolls Royce and that he has a song with “one of his idols” on an upcoming track titled “Flawless Like Me.” Similarly, this is LUCKI’s second sonic appearance of the weekend, also hopping on Internet Money’s new mixtape WE ALL WE GOT.

Additionally, “Double Check” served as a highlight off Lucki’s 2016 album Son of Sam, which has mysteriously disappeared off streaming platforms other than YouTube and SoundCloud. The Kenny Beats-produced track was ahead of its time in 2016 — foreshadowing Lucki’s endurance in the hip-hop scene as his discography only continues to grow more influential. The video was shot over seven years ago in Pilsen, Chicago, Illinois.

LL boss Bennett is still riding the success of his Minions collaboration alongside Yeat, using the track “Rich Minion” for the trailer prior to the movie’s release. Between videos with Kid Cudi, Justin Bieber, BabyTron, Lil Durk and more, the respected video director has been grinding this year, adding to his long list of accomplishments and innovative iPhone-shot visuals.

Lucki’s 2022 has been equally as busy, as he comes off the release of his pumped-up single “Y NOT?” — the latest in a string of high-quality drops from the Chicago emcee. Singles like “Meet Me There” and “Super Urus” have fans ready for his follow-up to last year’s F1LTHY-produced project WAKE UP LUCKI, as “Coincidence” could signal an album roll-out in the near future.

As Lucki’s Lyrical Lemonade debut proved to be worth the wait, the underground veteran is finally getting the flowers he rightfully deserves — slowly becoming a recognizable name in mainstream circles.
