Since being released from his Epic Records deal in March and becoming independent, Bobby Shmurda has been feeling more like himself.
In a recent cover story interview for HotNewHipHop, Bobby emphasized that “last year, that wasn’t Bobby. This is Bobby, independent.”
In this new independent era, Shmurda has dropped three solo singles, with the first being April’s “They Don’t Know,” the second being May’s “Getting Em Back” and the most recent being “Hoochie Daddy,” released on July 15.
“Hoochie Daddy” sees Bobby sample the wildly viral TikTok dance track “Shes Buff” by Beatdemons and Ssj9k. The song, which has been used in over 800k TikTok videos, adds to the upbeat tempo of this new Bobby cut, which brings out the raunchy side of the New Yorker. Sandwiched by the repetitive “I ain’t nothin’ but a hoochie daddy” hook, Bobby’s brief, singular verse sees him gripe about the mood swings of the ladies he pursues.

Now that he’s released a playful, energetic summer bop, Bobby has his sights set on bigger releases. In his HNHH interview, Bobby announced that he not only has a 7-song EP slated to release this month, titled BodBoy and including a feature from Rowdy Rebel, but his debut album is right around the corner as well.
Ready To Live, the first studio album from Bobby Shmurda, is slated to drop in August, and will include big name features like DaBaby, Meek Mill, Rich The Kid, Rowdy Rebel, 42 Dugg, Key Glock and Fivio Foreign.
With a lot on his plate in the coming weeks, Bobby still plans to release the “Hoochie Daddy” music video on July 22, which looks to be an entertaining production.
Bobby Shmurda’s takeover is on the horizon, and the “Hoochie Daddy” wants to assure he is still having fun in the process.
