Nardo Wick continues to stand out in a big way with his unmistakable, snarling vocals and unique bars that catch new ears every day. The Jacksonville rapper’s latest single, “G Nikes,” connects him with Chicago “Rapstar” Polo G, uniting the duo on a booming instrumental with a simple piano melody.
Polo and Nardo are in their most aggressive modes as they walk over the bouncy instrumental — spitting with head-bobbing cadences and startling bars. Matching each other’s energy perfectly, Nardo spits a graphic hook and verse before Polo picks up the pace with a lyricism we’ve seen on tracks like “GNF (OKOKOK).” Visuals for the track portray the duo in a dark warehouse, dancing to the infectious track as they participate in potentially illicit activities.
Following up on his 2021 success, Nardo’s 2022 has been eventful, from the release of his deluxe album to his inclusion in this year’s XXL Freshman Class. With new collaborations with The Kid LAROI, Latto, Lakeyah, Lil Baby and more, the Florida newcomer has been keeping his fanbase well-fed since his breakout single, “Who Want Smoke??“.
On the other hand, Polo G has been relatively quiet this year, popping out to support DDG, PGF Nuk, NLE Choppa, Juice WRLD and others as fans await new material. His only single this year was “Distraction,” a melancholy ode to the growing pains that come with success.
“G Nikes” was added to the deluxe version of Who is Nardo Wick??, leading fans to wonder what Nardo’s plans are for the future. For now, “G Nikes” will have to hold us over until either of these artists reveals their next move.
