Indiana rapper Midwxst is no stranger to thinking outside the box.
Combining a slew of genres to create his hyperpop-centric, rap-infused sound, the 19-year-old singer-rapper is now set to flex his lyrical chops alongside BabyTron — eyeing a foray into the bombastic stylings of Detroit scam rap.
Earlier this month, Midwxst shared footage of he and Tron’s upcoming collaboration via TikTok, which displays the newfound duo spitting back-and forth flows in close-up shot of the track’s accompanying visual. This won’t be the first time Wxst has hopped on a Detroit style beat, dropping off “DETROIT FREESTYLE (MM10)” on his second SoundCloud account — showcasing his intrinsic ability to rap alongside the new wave’s best emcees.
Both BabyTron and Midwxst have kept quite busy in 2022, proving to be two of the most skillful emcees of our generation. Following his album BACK IN ACTION in 2021, he’s kept anticipation high for his upcoming project BACK IN ACTION 3.0 with singles in “broken” and “under fire.” Following the BIA 2.0 deluxe that features DC the Don, Slump6s, Tana, Ericdoa and more, the young star dropped a 9-track EP in March titled better luck next time that holds a sole feature from Brakence.

While Tron made waves earlier this year with his inclusion on XXL’s 2022 Freshman Class — as well as both his solo and ShittyBoyz-affiliated projects — it seems that their forthcoming collab could wind up on Midwxst’s next full-length release.
