DJ Drama shakes the game with star-studded ‘I’m Really Like That’

Yeah, DJ Drama is really like that.

Tyler, The Creator, Lil Uzi Vert and Jack Harlow are just a few generational talents featured on the Gangsta Grillz legend’s new album I’m Really Like That (March 31) — displaying his full power as one of hip-hop’s core tastemakers.

A key piece to Generation Now’s dominant run in the 2020s — bolstered by the hype of Lil Uzi Vert’s The Pink Tape and Jack Harlow’s inescapable meme-era persona — Drama’s 14-track LP flexes features from superstars acts in not only Tyler, Uzi and Harlow, but also WESTSIDE GUNN, Benny The Butcher, Rick Ross, Wiz Khalifa, Vory, Mozzy, Offset, Moneybagg Yo and the late-Nipsey Hussle, who passed away four years ago on this day (2019).

The Gen Now co-founder is not only known for his iconic Gangsta Grillz tapes, but also his level of refined curation. Aiding Tyler, The Creator on his GRAMMY-winning Rap Album Of The Year CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST — continuing their ride on The Estate Sale (March 31) — Drama’s impact on the game is undoubted due to his timeless discography over the course of two decades.

Drama’s been quite busy since he and Tyler connected for CMIYGL in 2021. Not only did it put Gangsta Grillz back in style, but follows high-powered, DJ-led efforts like NIGO’s I Know Go Nigo and DJ Khaled’s GOD DID. Drama is perhaps the most enticing of the three, though, continuing his run as hip-hop’s premier trendsetter.

Off the back of Gangsta Grillz tapes with G Perico (Hot Shot), Seddy Hendrinx (Well Sed) and Jeezy (Snofall), Drama also lent his signature curation to Dreamville’s 2022 mixtape D-DAY. The prolific DJ also has tons more slated for 2023, teasing a collab project with Fivio Foreign, Pusha T and potentially Smino for his forthcoming tape, S.A.D. 2, dropping on April 20.
